Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde interpreted by Nick DiScola

In Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde the theme of Life at all Costs came into play in Dr. Jekyll's life. He was determined to separate the good and evil from people; that was his goal. He was so devoted to his experiment that he tried it on himself and it led him to death. "Hence it came about that I concealed my pleasures; and that when I reached years of reflection, and began to look round me, and take stock of my progress and position in the world, I stood already committed to a profound duplicity of life" (Stevenson 89). Dr. Jekyll got so caught up in his experiments that it took over his life and he could not stop.

In real life, someone in sports would risk the well being of their own body to be better at their sport by taking steroids. They don't care that it is hurting them, they only care about how they are going to be better at their sport.

Can you think of a specific sportsman?

Many athletes today do not care about their bodies. Athletes in various sports have been found taking steroids and are being punished. Much like Dr. Jekyl who does not care about the consequences on his own body. Both Dr. Jekyll and the athletes who have taken steroids have the same mentality of "achieving no matter what"

I agree that Dr. Jekyll's life goal is to separate the good and evil parts of the soul of a human. I also agree that he was overly passionate about his experiments.

It is interesting how many sports players actually do take steriods, and end up ruining their career, or out of the hall of fame.
