Day 6
We have just woken up on our fourth day here. We still are having trouble grasping reality. After a few days of wandering and just observing our surroundings we found a good spot to set up camp. After the accident, we all woke up on this island. We still recovering from the initial shock and accepting all the unanswered questions. Our team has been forced to become closer in way like no other. We need to rely on each other to survive.
We have set up a base with makeshift sleeping tents and a communal fire pit. We have been constantly exploring for food. We have been eating various types of indigenous fruit while also hunting wild game and sometimes fish. Being a nuclear research team we have never gotten socially close at all. I am eager, but also worried, to see how this sudden required bonding plays out. We will all see our true selves and now we are a team to survive, not just a team to make advances in nuclear science. Our accident has somehow brought us here and must use our skills to get ourselves back to our lives.
Life on this island changed drastically two days ago. After constant reports of murmurs in the trees, we discovered we are not the only inhabitants of this place. While looking for food, many heard chants and whispers. We eventually assembled a few people, including myself, to go out and explore. Sure enough, we saw through some trees a tiny village of natives. We were very careful to not draw attention. We noticed they looked very similar to humans but behavior was quite different.
The people appeared very happy. It was almost creepy. Everyone was smiling while living their lives. They lived a very primitive lifestyle, with the only seemingly visible objective being survival. It was almost robotic. I assume they have realized they must survive and have adapted their lifestyle to that single goal. Everyone had a job and that person never strayed from that job. All the men had buzz cuts. No women were present from our vantage point. They were all physically fit from what I could tell. It is probably from all the hunting and collecting of wood.
Now these people may sound human but let be noted that there was a strong inclination that something was not exactly right. We all agreed we must cautiously approach the situation with not much information on the people. We do not know their intentions and if they have ever seen other life forms. It is just another thing to add to our seemingly endless list of unanswered questions. The first of those questions would obviously have to be though, “How did we get here?!”
